Look at how much Norman had suffered honestly...the panels say it all. He had been exposed to so much, given so many attainable pedestals throughout his life, isolated and lonely because he was afraid of showing his weakness+
Just...think about it...if he had really stopped caring about his family or his friends, he wouldn't have cared if they died in the progress of his extermination plan. That's how vengeance works. No, he'd rather let himself die than anyone else even getting mildly hurt+
He never saw the selfless demons, he never saw Sonju/Mujika of demon families. What he saw was the product of their greed, kids treated like zombies just for the sake of high-quality food. Every day. For 2 years. When he was 12. +
He was not a saint, but that's not how real people work! Not everyone is pure, people do get mad, stressed, they do have tendencies to think irrationally, and that's what make his character REAL. He is not god, he is not a devil, he is a CHILD. He still needs to grow, learn +
from his mistakes. So please, think about it, because he never stopped loving Emma or Ray, never stopped looking out for the very people who dumped their hopes and dreams into his shoulders, he could not let anyone DIE, so he had to do that. Since ep3 we've seen him scared +
of losing people he loves, it's something that makes him selfless, and from there his selfishness arises. He believes in Emma and Ray, but he knows he's already to deep in whatever he is doing for them to involve their lives in, which are more precious to him that his own+
Well, you can dislike him all you want,I'm not going to stop you. But I just wanna say that even if he did act brashly earlier he's changing. He admitted to his fears, which takes a lot of guts in it of itself. He spilled everything out in the end to the two people he loved most+
Later on he pushed Emma to the side during an enemy attack, reconciled with his family, was genuinely concerned for the well being of Vincent and all, and was the first person to read that Emma was not comfortable during their reunion in 181 +
He was the first person Emma actually listened to, made any contact with, because he is bold enough to try making amends, even if it is with her ghost. Don't judge a person based on a bad phase in their lives, everyone has those. It's what makes us human+
Norman, I repeat is not a god, nor a saint. He did some bad stuff, sure. But inside of that, he genuinely is a good person, caring, soft and loving. And for me, I could never hate someone like that.
