Citizen Scientists Discover Dozens of New Cosmic Neighbors in NASA Dat

We’ve never met some of the Sun’s closest neighbors until now. In a new study, astronomers report the discovery of 95 objects known as brown dwarfs, many within a few dozen light-years of the Sun.

This paper was an amazing amount of work by people from all over the world, scanning images from @NASA's WISE survey using the @backyardworlds @the_zooniverse portal.
The discoveries made were verified using the @NASAspitzer space telescope before it closed its eyes for the last time. In fact one of these objects was one of the last things observed by Spitzer.
We have spectra for several of the objects from various @NASA IRTF, @keckobservatory, and Magellan ( #LCO) observing runs.
The amazing core backyard science team does not cease to amaze me in how well we work together and how much fun we have working with anyone interested in astronomy.
Congrats to everyone involved! These are TOTALLY @JWSTObserver TARGETS!!!! Pay ATTENTION TO THESE!!! Some absolute winners in here and they were missed until some hardworking citizen scientists put their eyes on some images.
