Ancient Rome had 14 Personal Virtues to follow

They are an excellent place to start.

These are the qualities of life to which every Roman citizen would aspire to

They are the heart of the Via Romana 'the Roman Way'

And are thought to be those qualities that gave the Roman Republic the moral strength to conquer and civilize the world.
Staring with:

Auctoritas--"Spiritual Authority": This not a virtue but a sense of one's social standing, built up through experience, duty, and industry.

1) Comitas--"Humor": Ease of manner, courtesy, openness, and friendliness.

2) Clementia--"Mercy": Mildness and gentleness.
3) Dignitas--"Dignity": A sense of self-worth, personal pride

4) Firmitas--"Tenacity": Strength of mind, the ability to stick to one's purpose

5) Frugalitas--"Frugalness": Economy and simplicity of style, without being miserly
6) Gravitas--"Gravity": A sense of the importance of the matter at hand, responsibility and earnestness

7) Honestas--"Respectibility": The image that one presents as a respectable member of society

8) Humanitas--"Humanity": Refinement, civilization, learning, and being cultured
9) Industria--"Industriousness": Hard work

10) Pietas--"Dutifulness": A respect for the natural order socially, politically, and religiously. Includes the ideas of patriotism and devotion to others

11) Prudentia--"Prudence": Foresight, wisdom, and personal discretion
12) Salubritas--"Wholesomeness": Health and cleanliness.

13) Severitas--"Sternness": Gravity, self-control.

14) Veritas--"Truthfulness": Honesty in dealing with others.

Allowed Roman individuals to refine the manner in which they express themselves
