There was an interesting question on FB yesterday for who someone would want to be his college coach if he was a 5-star player, and the choices were like Calipari, Coach K, Bill Self, Izzo, or Roy Williams.

I was shocked at how many people actually choose Izzo as their choice. I guess it shows some Spartan bias in this state.
I said even though Beilein isn't on the list, and he isn't someone who can actually coach in the NBA he is much better at developing players than Izzo.
Of course, Sparty nation came after me with comments like "yeah, name them!", and in typical rhetorical fashion I hit them up with some facts that I didn't even realize.
Right now in the NBA, there are ONLY 6 players who played under Izzo, but there 10 who played for Beilein.
Sparty nation came back with retorts like just being on the bench doesn't make you a "real" NBA player; however, going to http://realgm.com I discovered that a few things...
Sparty Miles Bridges is averaging 13 points per game, but Caris Lavert is at about 19 ppg, Time Hardaway Jr. at almost 16, and Duncan Robinson around 13, so not only are there more Beilein players in the NBA, but they scoring a lot points than the Sparty alum.
The clincher is that Beilein was kinda maligned for his recruiting while the Spartans are usually ranked at the top of the Big 10 in recruiting, so development must have been much better for the Wolverines.
btw if you are wondering which program of the original coaches listed have put the most players in the NBA it is easily Kentucky at 29 and Duke coming in 2nd at 25, followed by the Tarheels 15, and the Jayhawks 11. If that is all recruiting or development is up for debate.
