My unpopular opinion after working in banking is that joint accounts are evil. By design. As long as both your names are on the account, anyone can make off with the money at anytime.

I cannot tell you how many sobbing calls I have gotten from (usually) women trying to find out what that 052317 hilton 1002.99 charge is that was authorized at 4:30am in the morning and why the joint account is suddenly at 12.99
This is also a naĂŻve take if only because it completely ignores who has been able to retain financial independence in this country for so long and who just *recently* acquired it.
