I’ve emailed @AdrianaLaGrange four times now. I’ve pointed to science, asked for a pause in restarting schools, told her about how AB parents are agonizing over this unfunded return to school, and asked her to come to the table with teachers and parents.
It’s weird. It’s like I’ve begun this one sided dialogue with @AdrianaLaGrange. I know there will be no response. But after each email I think “Ok, now they know how we feel”. As if that will offer some relief. Which is dumb. So dumb.
Dumb because @AdrianaLaGrange and @jkenney don’t care how we feel. They don’t care that AB parents are scared. Are angry. Are fed up with a government that comes after our kids.
I talk to my kids all the time about words and actions. That if your actions don’t match your words, then I just can’t trust your words. @AdrianaLaGrange and @jkenney have shown us with with every action that our kids don’t matter.
Their actions show that they will put our kids at risk as a means to their political ends. @AdrianaLaGrange and @jkenney have been doing that since their first minute in power. We AB parents shouldn’t be surprised for a second that they will come for our kids.
They campaigned on making schools unsafe for queer kids. They cut essential funding for kids with disabilities. They fired our kids beloved EA’s. @AdrianaLaGrange and @jkenney came for our kids from the very beginning.
I’m going to keep writing @AdrianaLaGrange. And likely keep having these small existential meltdowns after every send. Still my only regret is not speaking out, and acting up sooner.
AB Parents stand up. For all of our kids. They deserve nothing less than our best. Make @AdrianaLaGrange & @jkenney hear this loud and clear. @SOSAlberta @alberta_moms @SafeSeptember #SafeSeptemberAB #veryworriedab
