The Duchess of Cambridge’s love and passion for tennis is well known,as it’s something she’s been passionate about for years now,even before becoming a royal.We seen the Duchess incorporate her love of tennis into her royal life when she began attending Wimbledon in 2011
however she has also involved tennis in some of her official engagements. In 2016, the Duchess visited a school in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she participated in a Tennis on the Road workshop. Whilst there she played tennis with children, parents, staff, volunteers
and Judy Murray, the mother to Wimbledon champion Andy Murray. The next year, 2017, Kate visits the lawn tennis association, of which she is patron, the Duchess visited a programme which helps and encourages children to play tennis, whilst pregnant with her third child
Kate participated in playing tennis with kids and met staff and apprentices. In March 2018, Kate holds a round table meeting with representatives from Wimbledon, coach core, Tim henman and Judy Murray, whilst she attended as patron of the Lawn Tennis Association,
and Croquet Club. Together they discussed children’s tennis initiatives in the UK. In 2018, the Duchess also attended an engagement at Bond Primary school, where instead of wearing her typical dress and heels, she wore a tracksuit.
Upon arriving, the duchess was greeted by children who formed a line to hug the duchess one by one, Kate later participated in a warm up and tennis match with the children.
The third tennis related engagement the Duchess attended in 2018, was a visit to coach core, one of the charity programs started by the Royal Foundation, with her husband, Prince William. There, the pair played sports games with the kids,
Kate playing tennis whilst William threw foam arrows. The Duchess is known for attending Wimbledon, with her first royal visit being in 2011 with her husband, William, since then she has attended with friends, her sister Pippa, her husband William, and her sister-in-law Meghan.
The Duchess became patron of All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in 2016, and made her first visit as patron in 2017. In 2017 kate admitted she wrote a letter to Andy Murray apologising for not attending men’s finals which Murray won, due to her pregnancy.
In 2019, the Duchess presented the Wimbledon trophy to Novak Djokovic for men’s singles, both William and Kate attended on this day.
This year, 2020, we saw Kate phone Bond Primary School, where she attended a previous engagement at in 2019, accompanied by Andy Murray via zoom.
She also narrated a video for Wimbledon, which was posted on their social media’s, in which she said next years Wimbledon would be “worth the wait” with this years unfortunately being cancelled due to coronavirus. https://twitter.com/wimbledon/status/1277534834798350336
