It asserts Manafort used the Trump campaign to settle his debts to the Russian oligarchs who owned him and shows a connection between his contacts and GRU
Manafort continued to secretly work with the campaign after being "fired" for his Russian connections. Trump campaign therefore knew who he was and what he offered. He was a driver in going into unlikely swing states, and which to target.
Did the Trump campaign knowingly and illegally coordinate with Russian hackers on their social media micro-targeting of swing state voters, compromising the campaign and possibly the president to this day? What did Trump know and when did he know it?
I believe @maggieNYT was the first reporter to tell us Manafort told the Trump campaign to go to Michigan—in a tweet. This detail never got its own headline story. But it has been public knowledge for a long time.
There was never a story I'm aware of that reported 1) why Trump campaign was still secretly working with the disgraced, foreign-affiliated manager they fired 2) why they would trust him on an unlikely swing state campaign contrary to party advice/data 3) where he got his data
Fact remains that Trump campaign was bragging in press interviews about these swing states before the election despite their own party data and all public polling showing a loss.
