Nothing infuriates me than a bunch of East Coast Leftists trying to be sanctimonious about the carceral state. I’m from Louisiana. It incarcerates the most people per capita than anywhere on the globe, including at some point, damn near every man in my family.

I ain’t never shared a kind word about Biden as the architect of carcerality. I despise him for that shit. I’ve said it in print multiple times. But I also despise the willful obtuseness of those on the left who are acting COVID isn’t an acute threat.

To be clear I wanted Warren/Abrams or Warren/Castro. Biden was at the bottom of my list. But here we are. I work every day for the revolution I want to see. And in the voting booth, I act like an adult and choose against a fascist president.

I am a radical Black feminist, but I deeply resent the way those who are more left than me think they care more about a revolution than those of us who teach for revolution, march, give money, and amplify movements. I do all those things. I am committed to this work.

But it is the height of stupidity to tell folks in the midst of pandemic slated to kill 200K Americans by the end of the year, that we don’t have a moral obligation to end that shit. Of course we do. Folks so woke, they ain’t got no common sense.

We also have a moral obligation to inveigh against Biden’s long history of fucktastic policy making. But why are folks acting like to be Black isn’t always a crappy grab bag of political options. There is, however, no moral absolution in not voting.

You do what you want. It is America after all. But no one should ever try to come for me on no carceral analysis of anything. My family lives with the daily trauma of the carceral state. My mama’s house is still boarded up from what the cops did to it. (See early tweets.)

But I resent having to trot out my wounds to prove to the public that my choices are reasonable ones. We should stop doing this woke Olympic bullshit to each other. I said what I said about voting and COVID and Biden/Harris. I meant it.
