Today is the centennial of the #19thAmendment in which “womxn” were allowed to vote.

Let’s not forget that the majority of Black Women weren’t allowed that right until 1965 nationally.

And for Native women, it was until 1962 in Utah, the last state to allow Natives to vote.
Also, the whole suffrage movement was inspired by Indigenous matriarchal communities and wouldn’t be successful without misogynoir.

Black women faced so much violence from the suffragists that the explicitly made sure to exclude Black women’s right to vote.
Also, many Native communities in, what is now known as, the US weren’t considered “US” citizens until 1924.

The 14th Amendment in 1868 was interpreted to exclude Native Peoples.
When one looks at the herstory of voting rights in “America”, colonialism and misogynoir intertwined in many instances.

There’s this constant forced competition among marginalized communities to access limited resources that is only provided by the bourgeoise.
Also, here’s my stance on voting in case anyone replies with that “we all need to vote” come November or their state’s primaries.
