I made a square trefoil knot. #DIY #thread ⏬
First I made a model with @geogebra. You might have seen this: https://twitter.com/panlepan/status/1295075168273006593?s=19
I chose a piece of wood with a square section (22mm). That's my unit : 1u=22mm. I cut 3 pieces 7u long and nine 3u long. I glued them to get three identical pieces like this as shown in the previous GeoGebra video.
I think it's clear in the picture, but here's the GeoGebra model with pieces 7u, 3u, 3u, 3u assembled. You can come up with another arrangement of lengths like 5, 4, 4, 3 but having mostly lengths of 3 units made it simpler for the sawing.
Then just glue the pieces together. Here two pieces :
Of course the last one is trickier to fit correctly. Fortunately there are different possible arrangements so I chose the one that showed the best fit. Then there's a bit of glue to remove and some sanding, but that's it. Don't know if I should paint it...
Here's a @geogebra 3D model that you can play around with or download if you want.

If I had to do it again, I'd make three ends (one end on each of the three parts) a bit longer and cut them when everything is glued. #protip
