make fun of this all you want, but the truth is a gun waving couple and a “victim” of cancel culture will resonate with the average republican voter and fire them up more than any stuffy politician giving a speech https://twitter.com/drmistercody/status/1295568444457279489
maybe a few years ago this might have been a hit-or-miss idea, but in 2020, putting viral Facebook stories on center stage is a p smart strategy
it’s true that these conventions are mostly just fanfare. When voters enter the booth in November, they’re not making their decision based off something they saw on TV in August. But these Facebook-y RNC guests will stick longer with voters than any speech given by Michelle Obama
Facebook, and I use that term to basically mean any social media platform used heavily and rabidly by Republicans, won Trump the election in 2016 and I genuinely think this will happen again. Lol don’t get mad at me just giving opinions
I worked as a professional content expert!! I know audiences!! I watched Trump’s win, fueled by anger and misinformation, happen online in 2016. I saw analytics, sharing numbers, and engagement numbers firsthand. And I’m seeing them again. Sorry to be a downer but ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
It sucks that 2020 politics seem to be dictated by stories shared on Facebook from sites like “ http://americanpatriotrealnews.tv ” but the DNC either adapts to this culture or turns to dust. They seem to be pretty dead set on the latter
I don’t see any hope in the DNC successfully adapting to internet culture the way the GOP has. Dems tried it in 2016 with “explain your student debt in 3 emojis” and “Pokémon Go to the polls” and look how that turned out. They need a complete overhaul or they’re fucked
Last thing: I’m not stupid and I know the internet is not real life. My thread is about politicians and how they reach their audiences via media so that’s what I’m talking about. Logging off again goodbye
