The four day visit by @FilippoGrandi intends to shine a spotlight on the plight of all affected by the devastating blast a fortnight ago – people of Lebanon, migrants and refugees alike.
It's the first field mission for High Commissioner @FilippoGrandi since the COVID-19 first wave lockdown and a reaffirmation of our solidarity and commitment to stand by #Lebanon .
Relative to its national population, #Lebanon generously hosts the largest number of refugees in the world.

Support for Lebanese communities and refugees remains a top priority for UNHCR.
As well as the impact of the tragic explosion, we are concerned about the combined effect of a severe economic crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic.

These three factors are harming the most vulnerable and poorest parts of the population throughout Lebanon.
UNHCR is scaling up its response to all communities affected by the blast in Beirut to provide immediate relief, shelter and protection support.

We are on the ground helping provide emergency shelter for an estimated 200,000 households severely damaged in the #BeirutExplosion.
