*New (Long) Thread*

I’ve seen a few threads looking at 4.0 + 4.5 defenders (facilitators for premium MID assets) but for those with that extra bit of cash in their pocket, I’ve taken a look at some 5.0 defenders that have caught my eye! Stats are from 19/20 @OfficialFPL season.

Thoughts: First choice RB in an improving defence. Scored 132pts two seasons ago when injury free. Very good option IMO with limited rotation risk. Decent value too, could easily have been 5.5 - firmly on the radar.

Thoughts: You get a guaranteed starter when fit - who is the rock of the Villa defence. There’s an aerial threat from set piece too. However, I think Villa will go down next season and not an FPL asset for me.

Thoughts: 0.5 cheaper than Tarkowski and with Pope priced up at 5.5, Mee is a good way to get a reliable Burnley defender. Averaged 93.6pts over the past 5 seasons. However, Taylor and Pieters at 4.5 also tempting.

Thoughts: Takes up a Utd spot but I like the price and, once back fit, Shaw is first choice. Plenty of overlapping runs with Rashford and an attacking threat. I really like this option if fully fit.

Conclusion:

I particularly like the look of Shaw and Davies. When fit, they are both first choice LBs and offer potential attacking returns too.

Word of warning on James and Egan.

Coady + Dunk + Mings reliable starters too with no rotation risk.
