One of the most interesting parts of Season 6, to ME, is how all the pieces of the design are so intertwined. Let me explain.
A thread: (1/9)
Let's start with Rampart. Her passive is to make LMGs better. We wanted this to have enough room to be impactful, so we pulled the Devo from the care package to give her another LMG to work with. So now she has the Spitfire, Devo, LSTAR (and Shiela)

Now we're adding the Volt as a new SMG. The r99 is such a top tier gun already, it makes sense to crate it so the Volt has more room to shine.

Pulling out the Devo, plus adding the Volt, means we wanted Energy mags and the Turbocharger back in in the game. We want to keep you upgrading these weapons through the match.

This dilutes our ground loot pool a bit - 1 new weapon and 3 new mags (white/blue/purple). That's 4 more items clogging up the ground.
Enter - Crafting!
Crafting let's us take specific items OUT of the ground loot, but still give you another path to achieve them if desired.

But look at what else Crafting gives you - Evo points. Crafting evo points felt like a critical solve for the Evo Armor meta we wanted to pursue in S6.
Evo Armor can make the game more aggressive, but not everyone can get in fights all the time. Crafting helps with that.

And an armor meta change that promotes fighting helps balance out a character that will lead to more defensive tactics overall - Rampart! Her amped walls also let you do more damage, which raises your shields faster.
It all comes full circle.

There's other reasons for some of these changes, but this particular connectivity was really fun to work through. The design team is firing on all cylinders while working from home. Very proud and excited to fire up Season 6.

Oh, and the last thing I am hyped for is finally whitelisting the devs to have THIS. It only took 6 seasons lol.

See you out there. If you see the badge... go easy on us.
