well this is exciting. it's a nuclear battery, and it comes in a DIP package. lasts around 20 years, only $4500 for the 2.4V model.

there are a few caveats...
fits in a standard breadboard, how convenient
looks like you used to be able to get it from AliExpress. yeah, that's believable.
time to hit the book
the book was published in 1964, so yeah, cold war.
here's a cute little Sr90 nuclear battery. complete with a cross section diagram.

probably is actually Sr90, book has a typo
"in external appearance, the krypton battery looks very much like a conventional chemical dry cell."
