Dear diasporans with dreams of moving to Armenia, please don't go there with a savior complex. You will learn as much from Hayastan as Hayastan may learn from you. It's a mutual exchange for mutual benefits. Don't look down on the people there because they think differently.

Armenia has a lot to offer and there's much to learn but do get out of Yerevan. Armenia is more than just the urban center. Get out to the villages, meet the people, speak with them, share a meal, learn to embrace their hospitality and give them your ears. Be respectful!

There are always going to be differences in educational level & experience but don't be condescending to the locals. They have insights you'll only learn if you have an open mind. Be mindful of how they live and their experiences. They don't always share your privileges.

Ultimately, you're one people with vastly different lives and experiences. The more we learn about each other and the more equal we feel to each other, the better. If we do want to change things, patience is far better than frustration & judgment. Let's be symbiotic.
