weird I distinctly remember being told to eat shit and fall in line by white liberals making $200k+ per year, now I'm suddenly needed? What am I supposed to expect in return, exactly? We doing M4A now? GND? Loan forgiveness? Abolishing ICE? No? Hmmmmm
If the Democratic party wants leftists to be Democrats and vote for them, they should consider adopting a political program that appeals to a left/liberal coalition, not a liberal/moderate coalition. This is just how politics works!
The GOP political agenda is, appropriately, targeted at a far-right/moderate coalition, with the additional advantage that our economic and political fundraising system also favors candidates who have those views. Again, this is simple stuff.
They win consistently because they have correctly identified and made efforts to service the interests of their constituency. This is the basic idea of politics. Democrats seem to think they're different.
And of course you can say things like "but this election is different" or whatever but Democrats have ALSO been doing that for 20 years while consistently moving to the Right, and expecting the Left to remain its most enthusiastic and vocal supporters.
Like, "the Left" speaking broadly here, means not only fringe people like me, but the much larger part of the party who, when surveyed, consistently support policy like Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, taxing the rich, etc. These are incredibly popular policies!
It's at least 20% of the American electorate, to be conservative. And hardly any politicians pay the slightest bit of attention to it because there's no money to be made advocating for those things, no grift. The politicians who do are the most popular in the country.
AOC, Tlaib, Omar, Pressley, Bernie, all of them are the biggest stars in the party, net favorables through the roof. Ed Markey, a septugenarian who was until recently a fairly mainline liberal is stomping a Kennedy in MASSACHUSETTS right now by promoting a Left agenda.
But regardless of all the evidence, the party as currently constituted cannot make meaningful concessions to popular pressure, because the people in charge of it have built careers on preserving the things that need to be dismantled.
A bunch of old white people like Pelosi and Schumer made deals with Wall Street back in the 80's and sold the soul of the Democratic party. They're going to cling to their power, and are willing to destroy the country rather than cede one inch of ground to progress.
The only thing we have to lose is the egos of a bunch of old rich white people. That's literally all that stands between us and a better world.

Basically it's just time for the Party to stop pretending it doesn't just constantly lie about its intention to do certain things while directly, obviously taking money from corporations opposed to those things and following their wishes. It's gross! It's obvious! Stop it!
