On holiday but had chance this evening to read through the written reasons in the EFL-Sheffield Wednesday case.

As others have stated, neither side emerges with credit.

To quote the Commission, a ‘very unhappy scenario’.
Some questions were answered.

Why did the whole thing take so long? It takes a while to go through over 5000 pages of submissions.

Why deduct points next season? The IDC felt it was the fairest solution given Wednesday would have no chance to revive their fortunes in 19/20.
Some questions very much remain.

What were the EFL thinking in claiming Dejphon Chansiri exaggerated his difficulties in speaking English?

Why did the EFL bother with Charge 2 when it seems to have put forward so little compelling evidence they were misled by Wednesday.
Why did EFL officers appear to be so accommodating with the rules they were supposed to be enforcing?

Why is Shaun Harvey sending an email to Katrien Meire saying "you need to move quickly for this transaction [the sale of Hillsborough] to look credible"?
Why did Sheffield Wednesday nor the auditors seek any legal advice as to whether the Hillsborough sale could be included in 17/18 accounts, given no Heads of Terms had been signed by the end of July 2018?
More broadly, why is everything in this case done at the last minute and beyond?

It’s striking that the sale of a multi-million pound asset became a rushed rescue effort when Wednesday’s issues with P&S would have been obvious following the playoff defeat in 2017.
