Routines are not only great for building habits and self-discipline, but they're also great for another reason:

Avoiding micro-decisions.

The average person makes 35,000 decisions every day...

Why do you think Mark Zuckerberg always wears the same outfit?

THREAD
Microdecisions include

- what you're going to wear that day
- what dinner you're going to make
- how you react to an email

They may feel like small choices to make, but every single one uses mental resources that may be better spent elsewhere
Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates

They all wear practically the same outfit every day

They're avoiding what's called 'decision fatigue'
It's pretty simple

The more decisions you make, the more of your mind space is occupied and used up

All decisions matter, big or small

So be mroe conservative about the decisions from which you don't see a ROI
Think about what decisions you make every day and rethink which ones you can automate and/or repeat daily

Avoid using those mental resources

Make better, higher quality decisions
