For any fellow gamers who were lucky enough to experience Majoras Mask as a child, I want to make a thread about how dark and uncomfortable that game truly was. A Thread:
First off, obviously, the Moon with a big grimacing face is slowly crashing towards earth with a 3 day ticking clock to obliterate everyone. Hm. Ok
Oh and try walking around the world when the moon is about to fall. People frightened, praying, begging not to die. This isn’t like some cute or mild stuff. Like actual fear and dramatic music.
There’s also a huge mission where you basically get masks and secrets to get this couple married. It’s weird. But it’s like this deep romantic story tied with end of the world and like “we will die together” stuff. This is a kids game?
Let’s start off in the deku land, where the river is poisoned and what not. There was a cute little monkey who got captured, and they are currently BURNING HIM ALIVE AT THE STAKE. Cute face and all. What?
The second area is the Goron Land, snowy and cold. There’s a baby there who is screaming crying non stop. Loudly. Why? Because her grandma is gone, and it turns out grandma is FROZEN ALIVE on top of a cliff. Christ.
Over to zora land, land of the zora people, good ole princess Ruto is having issues; but she can’t even SPEAK to tell you them. What is it? Her baby eggs are missing. LOST HER EGGS. That’s sorta like.. not that mild. Especially without a voice.
To those who tried to collect every mask, there’s a girl in a house which is surrounded by these mummy characters. Turns out, the girl is alone with her father who is locked and chained in a closet because he’s slowly becoming a mummy himself.
Let me drive that home. Young girl TRAPPED IN HER HOUSE with mummies surrounding it, while her father is locked in a closet becoming a mummy himself. Uh. Horror movie??
