Bars and Restauranta are NOT the problem. Yes, some are flaunting rules and have since been closed. Providing a regulated environment for people to congregate in is much better than forcing the parties underground. They’ll happen regardless, so make them safe.
The largest transmission is coming from private events - not from the exposure events you hear about at bars/restaurants. Closing BC Nars down will put 200,000 people out of work (again) and contribute to higher spread through private parties.
I know I’m biased in this, but this is exactly what @adriandix and Dr Henry say as well. Absolutely shut down places that refuse to follow rules or manage their guests - but a full shutdown is absolutely not the answer.
We need to take the next logical step from what we’ve been doing up to this point, which is shaming those people who flaunt the rules. And start fining/penalizing then instead. Too many people have worked too hard to have another shutdown based on a minority of assholes.
