I had been following the work of Senator Lucas during this session. She carried bills in the Senate related to paramilitary groups, Confederate statue removal, background checks, and ending Lee-Jackson Day in Virginia. She has been a boogie man of the far-right.

I had a chance to speak to her a few times during this session back in January and February. I voiced my concerns to her about certain laws being used against protesters and she listened in earnest. Now those laws are being used against her for taking part in a protest.

When a man was injuried during this protest, the police have decided to arrest everyone that they consider an organizer. However Jason Kessler and Richard Spencer have never faced charges for organizing the deadly Unite the Right.

Actions like this by the police show who they serve, that is themselves. They will arrest their critics weither it be young people assembled outside a police station, press covering them, or Senators considering ending Qualified Immunity.
