So sometimes I have an idea — and I write a bit about it

But it doesn’t feel *finished*, and of course it doesn’t — because it’s *never* finished

But publishing feels like what you do to something that is done. Wrapped. Packaged up. Ready to be delivered.
But that’s silly.

If that were the case, *nothing* would be published.

So what’s the fix? Redefining “good enough”? Don’t love that either.
I’d rather be able to represent the evolution of idea.

Build a draft that gets some of the point across — and the perpetually add, shift, change and polish.

That’s how my brain works.
If I’ve written something — and a few weeks later say “huh, I could’ve added that in” or “this would sound better” or “that’s just incorrect now that I’ve thought more deeply” ... what do you do?
If it’s been shared, I feel like I can’t just rip the carpet out and edit the version I published... but it could be better!
“Versions” would be ideal... so I could *layer* additions on top of the old.

Honouring the past, but remaining dedicated to progress.
Digital gardens are another great way to honour perpetual growth and change...

But how do you push updates? Maybe a change log?

My feelings on change logs: 😑
I’m not working towards an answer here — I’m mostly just thinking out loud.

But I kinda like just shipping edits on old pieces and saying “last updated: _____” or something. 🤷‍♂️

To be continued...
Desired outcome: Evolving ideas. Dynamic posts. Progressive clarity.
Jon gets it! This is beautiful.
