The follow thread will provide an explanation as to my thought process - opting for players with solid competition who can be subbed in and out seamlessly, reducing the need to take hits. In turn, my value is on the pitch, not the bench.
The structure of the thread will include: the player, the justification for their inclusion, plus the alternatives. I will choose the starting squad based on fixtures, and then the alts will be subbed based on their performances / upcoming fixtures.
Given the pricing structures, I see there being stronger value in lower priced attackers as opposed to midfielders. Thus, I am going to start with a 3-4-3. In addition, I have left a spare ÂŁ2m to help aid with the inevitable transfers in GW2.
GK: Ryan (4.5)
Brighton have recruited well defensively in Veltman from Ajax, as well as being boosted by the return of Ben White from his loan at Leeds. With the most points at his pricing point he will be my first choice.
Alt = McCarthy.

Defender (1/3): TAA (7.5)
Best point scoring defender in the game. High ownership. I donât like the term âmust haveâ - but would highly recommend him to avoid big red arrows early on. Donât need to say much else about him - get him in!

Defender (2/3): Vinagre (4.5)
Cheap route into a very good Wolves defence with Jonny expected to miss out. Potential to double up with Doherty if fixtures are nice, but I will seek to resist spending 6 on a defender if possible. â @FPLTIPZ has a good thread on this.

Defender (3/3): Taylor (4.5)
More flexibility here. Taylor regularly plays in a sturdy Burnley defence, with the occasional attacking return and BP too. Tbh though, this slot is entirely dependent on fixtures.
Alt = Lamptey (Ryan), KWP (McCarthy) and Ayling / Dallas

Midfield (1/4): Salah
Same as TAA. One of the best players for Attacking returns in FPL, Liverpoolâs star forward + penalty taker and high ownership.
- Alt = Mane, Sterling & Auba

Midfield (2/4): KDB
Best midfielder on the Planet, Cityâs Talisman and potentially on Penalties this season. However, he did overperform his XG last season... still option to swap to aforementioned Premiums.

Midfield (3/4): Grealish (7)
Villaâs spark + penalty taker. Will need another big season to keep them up. Created 2nd most chances behind KDB, hoping Villa sign a decent ST to convert those chances.
Alt = I think perhaps I would look to Pulisic / Ziyech and downgrade in ATT

Midfield (4/4): Pereria (?)
Currently not loaded in the game - hence why ASM is in the team (only for pricing reference). Hoping he can be WBAâs Grealish 2.0! On set pieces + pens and is the chief creator. Again, hope WBA can sign a decent ST.

Forward (1/3): Martial (9)
In electric form for United - hoping a full season being fed by the likes of Pogba, Bruno, Rashy, Sancho(?) will further boost his score. Similar price point to Werner.

Forward (2/3): Jimenez (8.5)
Wolves main point scorer. Without the fixture congestion of Europe, can see Wolves having a strong season. Jimenez will be at the centre of that, with a low risk of rotation + penalty taking duties. Very consistent.
- Alt: Ings

Came alive post lockdown in Hallerâs absence. Consistently scored 130+ in past few seasons and accounts for highest % of points for Hammers.
- Alt: Wood, Maupay, Mitro, Adams.
