hi! i've been learning a lot about voting in MA this cycle and so i'd like to bring you this knowledge and offer to be your voting friend. thread!
you can apply for your absentee ballot by filling out and mailing back the postcard you receive in the mail, by downloading, printing, filling out, and mailing in an application, or by applying online at http://edmarkey.com/vote (no printing, stamp, or mailbox required).
once you apply, check your ballot status at https://bit.ly/vbm-track . "pending" means they've received your application, and any date under "ballot mailed" means they've mailed you your ballot. they sent mine today! i can tell they haven't received my ballot back or accepted it.
IF YOU'RE AN INDEPENDENT: you can vote in the democratic primary in massachusetts! you just have to request the democratic ballot. you can vote in one primary. if you're a registered republican, you can't, sorry.
YOU CAN REQUEST YOUR MAIL-IN BALLOT BUT VOTE IN PERSON. what if you check your status online and it hasn't arrived? what if you forget to mail it back? just go to the polls! you can vote in person until the moment your mail-in ballot is counted
YOU CAN RETURN YOUR MAIL-IN BALLOT AT CITY HALL. some towns (Cambridge has one in Inman Square at the Election Commission) are also putting in ballot drop-boxes.
who can return your ballot for you? in MA, a family member. be careful with this https://www.ncsl.org/research/elections-and-campaigns/vopp-table-10-who-can-collect-and-return-an-absentee-ballot-other-than-the-voter.aspx#table
