Our city of Cedar Rapids has been destroyed by a Derecho, a term for a type of storm I’ve never heard of and never want to hear of again. Walking through the destruction I came across this lost tree. My mind keeps coming back to it days later. #CedarRapids #derecho
Some other shots from the last week...
This isn’t a wooded road.
You see one giant tree uprooted like this and you might take pause. Now imagine seeing tens of thousands like this and being numb to it.
Again, I’ve seen dozens of vehicles like this.
Here’s the closest before and after I can find of our street. Just one of thousands like this or worse.
Typically you’d see quaint homes and well manicured lawns from the street. Now every stree has wood and debris piled ten foot high or more. It’s like this not on a street, here and there. It’s like this everywhere.
Bever Avenue 7 days after the storm.
This is as cleaned up as it gets around here.
You’re supposed to see houses lining the street on either side from this vantage point.
