A THREAD from my work experience on how the countries put efforts to play cricket after rain. Something England can do in future. Surely many passages of play in Southampton Test and PAK vs SL WC match last year would have not been washed out if they were in some other country.
Ind vs Pak - Kolkata, 2016. They covered the ground 3-4 hours before play cos they were anticipating rain. It did rain heavily. Groundsmen put an extraordinary effort to get it ready for an 18 overs game. #T20WorldCup
Peshawar vs Karachi, Lahore, 2018. It rained for many hours and the play didn't look possible at one stage. But once the rain stopped, PCB called two choppers to dry the field. Groundsmen got it ready for a 16 overs match. #PSL
SL vs Pak, Galle, 2014. Sri Lanka won this Test in the last few minutes of day-five. A Pakistan player jokingly said Sri Lanka won by 5 minutes. Thanks to their groundsmen who had put enough efforts in the previous days to get the ground ready without losing substantial time.
Aus vs Pak, MCG, 2016. A dramatic win for Australia. It rained on day 1, 2 and 4. But the ground drainage facilities made sure there were at least 50 overs on day-two. In hindsight, if 15 more overs were lost, the game would have been drawn. #AusvPak
WI vs Pak, Jamaica, 2017. Pakistan won the Test with enough time left but this image from day-two highlights the amount of efforts that were put to have cricket. They used coals to dry wet patches on the pitch.
