As some of y’all may recall, XO and I have a couple cemeteries very near our house. This is because we are around the corner from the historically white Methodist church and just down the road from the historically black Methodist church.
The Methodist church officially integrated in 1968, but here we are living between the white church & the black church. Now, as one might imagine, the land on which the black church was built is less desirable. It is all slopes and angles.
We’ve had a lot of rain lately, and the recent erosion on this bank where the cemetery slopes down to the road is very concerning to me.
I have an uneasy feeling that the hillside is going to give one of these days and the cemetery will slide down into the road and I am not cool with this.
There is a tree on the hillside that was just out of frame to the right and the erosion has largely exposed it roots. I’ll take a picture of it later. It feels like a matter of time before it slides down the hill. @katiecameron512 might have a picture of it.
