After seeing this video, I want to remind everyone you are responsible for your own personal security.
The police **might** come save you if they happen to be nearby, but don't COUNT ON IT. https://twitter.com/MrAndyNgo/status/1295237299916038145?s=20

Not going for CCW license yet? Or the lunatics that dumbasses keep voting into power in your city/state won't let you have one?
THAT'S NO EXCUSE ****WHATSOEVER**** TO WALK AROUND COMPLETELY HELPLESS AND UNARMED.
No excuse AT ALL.
A gun isn't the ONLY self-defense weapon.

There are FOUR THINGS you can carry/have with you that you can use to defend yourself with against multiple attackers.
They **do** require some training.

Empty hand self defense is also good to know.
And I don't mean BJJ/wrestling where you tackle a guy and go to the ground with him and spend a minute trying to choke him out while his buddies kick you in the head.

This is a good **basic** breakdown of 5 things you need to do if you end up being assaulted by multiple people.
No real focus on a particular martial art or style, just good solid basic info.

Once for a project I studied about 75 real street fights, many of which involved someone ending up facing multiple assailants.
I found very few instances of someone **successfully** dealing with a multiple attack.

THIS is one of the very few times somebody did it right:
He did NOT allow them encircle him.
He did NOT try to 'stand his ground' and defend one spot.
He did NOT tie up with one attacker & try to grapple.

He kept MOVING.
He created the line and avoided the circle.
He didn't let them grab him. He struck and MOVED. He struck and MOVED.
Many people do not know or train to do that.

I guess people aren't reading the thread.
Nobody knows how anything works.
I have comments just saying "Carry a gun, problem solved. Quit wasting my time with this thread, this is useless info."
NO.
IT'S NOT.

Did you know there are **ENTIRE STATES** in the United States where people **aren't allowed to carry guns on their person**?
It's true, it's true!
YOU can carry a gun in your state? That's AWESOME. I'm so happy for you.
Now quit trying to change the subject.

And another thing. I recently traveled to Maryland in February for CPAC.
I was **not allowed** to bring a GUN with me. I also couldn't bring a pocket knife on the plane. I had to buy one and carry it on me once I got there.
Next time I'll **mail** my knife to my hotel.

But you know what I **can** legally bring with me?
A walking stick and a tactical pen.
I'm an OLD guy, I'm 56! Darn my creaky left knee!

And a tactical pen, that can be used to inflict real damage on an attacker if you train to use it.
Best of all, it keep you from breaking your hand since you are able to strike with it.
Good basic vid about using a tactical pen:

As for the walking stick, I took Aikido off and on for 10 years and we trained in both wooden sword and jo [stick] techniques.
In fact you can't understand many Aikido techs until you've learned the sword movements they were derived from.

In this video, the founder of Aikido, O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba , demonstrates the key principle of all armed & empty hand techniques:
Discern the point of attack and move off the line, enter in at an angle and counter.

Unlike what you see in the martial arts movies, in real life one blow, one moment decides the conflict. Especially when using weapons. There were no 1 minute real life sword fights.
But this takes great discipline to develop because you WAIT FOR THE OPPONENT/S TO ATTACK FIRST. By attacking they **give you the opening to counter^^ if you move right.
You stand there & let them begin their attack. You don't try to block/arrest or stop it.

So get some self defense training.
There's no reason whatsoever to walk around completely unarmed and helpless.
Very few venues will not let you bring in a walking stick, a pocket knife or a tactical pen, if you can't have a gun.
