I'm not sure if anyone pitches to their stuff better than James Karinchak. His results speak for themselves, but here is a look into how he leverages his skillset. (1/5)
There is no question he has elite FB Vertical Break , and above average velocity @ 95.63 MPH and ~19.9 inches of Vertical Break. He further frustrates hitters by targeting the top of the zone with this offering. (2/5)
He protects his FB with a largely league average CB in movement quality. Despite the average movement, BAA this pitch is .133 in 2020. His results on the CB are partially due to how well it pairs with his elite FB, but he also throws it in advantageous locations. (3/5)
So not only does he have an elite FB, but his CB perfectly compliments it. The pitches already have north of 30" of vertical separation but he exacerbates this by throwing them at opposite ends of the strike zone while starting them in similar locations. (4/5)
Karinchak is able to throw them from very similar Vertical Release points. CB vertical release 6.8 ft, and FB Vertical Release point is 6.73 ft.
He is and will continue to be a BIG problem for hitters. (5/5)
