Twitter is making it incredibly difficult for me to find my tweets about this topic, so I'll say it again. Here's how to determine how much you should be paying in duties for your imports in Barbados. It's ridiculously easy.
First, you need to determine the harmonised tariff for the item you're importing. Go to http://hts.usitc.gov . You want to make sure you're looking at the 2017 Edition as this is what Barbadian law will reference.
Search for a keyword of the item, such as "hair".
Search for a keyword of the item, such as "hair".
The site will return a few options, with specifications on each one. These specifications dictate what your code will be. Read carefully and make note of the code for your item.
Now go to https://www.barbadosparliament.com/uploads/sittings/attachments/b005d3e1cb5cd0a475eea964a0016c37.pdf. Hit Cmd+F (or Ctrl+F whatever floats your boat) and type in the code you made note of. Sometimes how the text is formatted won't immediately return an answer, so try the first four digits and scroll through until you come to the correct heading.
Ta da! The duty and tax rate are there. No more work. Let me know if you have questions.
Forgot: to find the correct 2017 edition, select View, then Go To Archive, then 2017 HTSA Revision 1 Edition.
