My journey with vitiligo;
What is vitiligo? It’s a condition in which the skin loses its pigment cells. This can result in discolored patches in different areas of the body, including the skin, hair and mucous membranes.
I was 12 when I noticed a few white patches on my knees and calfs. I didn’t think much of it and didn’t tell anyone. Last year I noticed a new patch on my forehead. I told my mum and we went to see a dermatologist. She diagnosed me with vitiligo
It’s not really curable, it grows. There is no cure, and it is usually a lifelong condition. Vitiligo is not contagious, unlike some people think.
I have always had insecurities about my body, but vitiligo was never one. I always thought it is beautiful, it makes me unique, it makes me who I am
