Make no mistake, this transfers the chaos from Ofqual (who had to come up with a new appeals process and deal with 100000s of cases) and schools (who had to navigate the process) and politicians (who had to deal with political fall out) to universities, which are in pandemonium.
In other words, the logistical/capacity problems are now entirely transferred to universities, who have to try and honour their legal obligations to meet their places whilst honouring their other set of legal obligations to enact social distancing.
And as I was reporting earlier there are the potential financial woes of non-RG universities. https://twitter.com/lewis_goodall/status/1295362387869077504?s=21 https://twitter.com/lewis_goodall/status/1295362387869077504
There’s also huge concern about Year 12. Certain unis may end up with a swelled intake this year. It won’t be fair if disadvantaged kids next year pay the price. Teachers are also urging GOVT to think about how they will be examined NOW (as they’ve missed 6 months of school).
