Along with other @KyKernel reporters, I will be sharing my observations on the first few days of school.
First, I filled out my daily screening on the GetWell Loop app and got my approval to be on campus.
I started my day at 8 a.m. at the Johnson Center. Very few students there, and those that were kept a 6-feet distance and wore masks when not actively exercising, as the signs psoted around the gym directed.
2:14 p.m. received an email that I had not, in fact, completed my daily screening, right as I was walking to campus. A little confused, I guess the Get Well Loop app is not for UK.
COVID testing stations still set up around campus. Students can make their appointments until August 22nd
Five minutes on campus and I can already tell slow walkers are going to be exponentially more annoying this semester
The Wildcat Pantry next to the 90 has been expanded, which allows for easier social distancing. There is also a Chikfila food truck outside the new location, but neither are open atm
Willy T, the most popular library on campus, is taking social distancing measures like only placing one chair per table. Students are all wearing masks and mostly sitting 6 feet apart throughout the library.
Moved outside for my zoom finance class, featuring views of several students taking advantage of the nice day with a socially distant game of spikeball. As I walked around campus today, the outdoor chairs and benches were much more utilized than normal.
Polled students after an interview for an upcoming contact tracing feature.
Will students be sent home this semester? The verdict is divided. Some give it a month and others say they think UK will make it the entire semester. Everyone I polled was happy to be back on campus.

As I head home for the day, some general observations:
At least 90% of students were wearing their masks.
Social distancing, however, is being more loosely followed by most students in places where it is not being enforced
