Nothing for the family, @GovAbbott? Ok, let's talk about what could have prevented this for those LEOs.
From @AP: "Harmon said that the Cedar Park Police Department has a history at the residence, but did not provide details, including when police last visited the home." 1/ https://twitter.com/GovAbbott/status/1295137465246851072

Also noted was that the shooter has a history of mental health issues. Two solutions could have helped those cops: expanding Medicaid, Red Flag Law.

You want to militarize LE to be reactionary. But you're just as responsible for putting them in danger in situations like this in the first place. You and the @NRA *know* there are way too many "bad guys" with guns, y'all say it all the time! 3/

But your testosterone, and morbid obsession with this Hollywood depiction of SWAT teams armed to the teeth, riding tanks, is clouding your ability to see the bigger picture, and it makes you an ineffective leader of THE PEOPLE who need more resources than the cops do. 4/
Talk to that family that was held hostage. Find out what they've been through, what the shooter had been doing, leading up to the events of yesterday. A man holding his family hostage w/ a gun, shooting cops, is way too common these days. Be a better leader, find solutions. /end
