How to Lift Your Writing Game ✍️

🔥 Thread Time🔥

As a writing rookie, I’m presently reading 👇

Your Go-To Guide to Creating Ridiculously Good Content

Enough said?

Following is a short thread on a few things that I’ve learnt so far...
Use cliches rarely. If ever.

You know the ones;
- at the end of the day
- open-door policy
- all things being equal

When they were first used they were new ways of understanding the world.

So maybe okay for the olden days.

Now? Just a little boooooring!
Keep things brief and clear

Less is often more, especially on Twitter. 280 characters and all.

Instead of;

The majority of —> Most
Continues to be —> Remains
In spite of —> Despite

Less words, more punch.

Make things EASY for your readers.
And a few things I learnt at school that aren’t actually right.

1. Never start a sentence with and, but or because. ❌ Phew. Because I do that all the time.

2. Avoid sentence fragments ❌ That means it’s okay to not use whole sentences. Like this!
3. Never write a paragraph that’s only one sentence long. ❌

Anyone who is on Twitter already knows this. Don’t we?

We love a one sentence paragraph.
Thanks for making it this far, hopefully you enjoyed it. Please 🔁 if you did.

Not from me obviously. From the book.

Or you could just use Grammarly I suppose.

But where’s the fun in that?
