I want to address an issue that i've seen a lot in the Star Wars fandom and just fandoms in general. The issue that i've been seeing is the constant bashing of other people's favourite characters or comfort characters.
Lots of people tend to bash other people because of who their favourite/comfort character is and that is just really mean and rude. You have no idea what this person has gone through and you have no idea what this specific character means to that person.
So before you actively bash someone for liking a certain character then just take a minute and think about if you were in their position and it was your comfort character that's always getting bashed. That would make you feel pretty shitty right?
So why would you want another person to feel shitty? I'm not saying that you have to like every single character, i mean even i don't like every single star wars character and i find many of them really annoying.
However, i don't go out of my way to make people feel bad because they like a certain character. There's a difference between criticising and there's a difference between bashing.
We wouldn't have these twitter accounts dedicated to Star Wars if it didn't on some level mean something to us. Star Wars obviously means a lot to us and so do the characters so there is no reason for you to be rude about other people's comfort characters.
Obviously you are allowed to criticise other characters, that's completely fine as long as you do it respectfully. There is no reason for there to be such a divide amongst us Star Wars fans when at the end of the day we've all come to twitter to talk about what we love.
With that being said, next time you are about to comment something rude to another person just take a moment and imagine if you were in their position. So in conclusion, be nice, be respectful and have some common human decency.
