The AWB conundrum is a worry. What is clear to me is that he's a hindrance to how the team wants to play, attacking wise. So how did we get here? What's the solution? I think...
The scouting that led to his choice was off...in that, it didn't tie into how the coach wanted to play. Yes he can tackle, but he's poor on the ball, has almost zero attacking initiative, can't cross, and breaks down a lot of promising moves...
Or maybe they were deceived by "former winger" ? Because I was.
. That's the only reason I was willing to give him a chance. But from what I've seen? Meh.
But since I'm all about solutions, no need to dwell on that. He's here, money has been sent. What's the way? ..

Option 1: Bin him. Swallow the pride and bin him. This is pretty drastic, so let's explore other options.
Option 2: You have to set the team up to attack in a way that he isn't an attacking hindrance..

The best way to do this, if we are sticking with him, is to change formation. Personally I'd go with a 4-3-3. A genuine out an out RW, two 8's and a DM.
When attacking, the right sided 8 pushes up to occupy the inside half zones before and between the opposition CB and LB...

The UTD RW stays out wide. No drifting infield, because the 8 is there.
AWB the tucks inside the middle around the centre, to cover for the advanced 8 if the ball is lost. AWB is the defensive cover. He's also fast enough to run backwards.

Attacking wise, this limits his participation, while Utd are still able to have ball options out wide (RW) and infield ( the right sided 8).
4-3-3 can also optimize other areas of the pitch. But that's for another thread..

Another is a 3-5-2 formation...put him as a RCB.
But this means a reduction in the number of attacking players, and the need for capable wingbacks.

Outside of these, you can also continue working on this aspect of his game; https://twitter.com/otoiks/status/1210264634462220289?s=19
I've also alluded to this thread in the past before; https://twitter.com/otoiks/status/1229471221764456448?s=19
In summary, when people say "coaching", coaching for me is optimizing the football system to amplify your players strength's, and negate their weakness..so that the collective can flourish.
Individual ability or lack of, is a hopeless case. AWB sucks at what he sucks at.

You're not gonna give him Marcelo dynamism, or Trent ability. But what you can do is play him where is strengths will excel.
Finito.
