Am noticing the media getting blamed more and more for failing to explain risks properly and fuelling fear - not all journalists have. But a few thoughts:
- "experts" should not be exempt from criticism. The media relies on them. I won't name names but some have been hyperbolic

- SPI-B documents show that it's been a tactic to generate fear in those who are low risk using - amongst others - the media. I'm not sure of the rights and wrongs of this in a pandemic situation but it flies in the face of accurate risk communication.
- if you try to report anything other than everyone is it at imminent risk of death then you get accused of either being pro government or irresponsible for making it seem safe for people not to comply with rules.
