1. There is only one statement you need to make that is, I deny everything. Otherwise, KEEP QUIET!!! you have a right to remain silent.

3. Do not try to convince a police officer of your innocence, it is pointless.
4. You can call your Lawyer or anyone who can assist. It also helps if someone knows where you are and who arrested you.

5. Do not try to run or resist arrest. You are just giving them an excuse to shoot or assault you.
6. The police have no right to keep you for more than 48 hours without a court order extending your detention, otherwise, the police must either release you or bring you before a court.
7. You have a right to see a Magistrate within 48 hrs and you also have a right to bail unless there are compelling reasons for you not to be granted bail.
8. If they ask for permission to conduct any search don't give them. It's better they search without your permission.
9. If you get into court no matter how proficient you are in English, if it is not your first language, always prefer your native tongue.
