Calculating Target Value💰🧮 {THREAD}

In order to accomplish the goals we've set up for ourselves in FPL we need a simple way to judge the quality of our squad and determine if it's going to be good enough. Here's how I do it.

#FPL #FPLCommunity
In my latest thread I discussed how we can set goals for ourselves in FPL. The next step is to try to have a balanced squad that helps us reach this goal. To know if our players meet our goal's criteria we will take a look at how to analyze their value in relation to our target.
The simplest way to look at player value is by dividing a player’s price by his projection. You can borrow projections from a couple of FPL sites, or create them yourself. I will use Salah as an example.
If Salah is projected to score 28.5 points between gameweeks 1-4, and his cost is 12.0, his ÂŁ/fantasy point value rating would be 0.421:

12.0/28.5 =0.421
ÂŁ/Point = (Player Price)/(Player Projection)
Using this number can help you see which players have the best value across positions. The lower this number is, the better the value. The next way to look at value in projections is by establishing a target score for the weeks you’re playing.
As I mentioned in my “setting goals” thread, my target score for the first 4 weeks is 244, but deduct double points for the captain and the number drops to 215 instead. https://twitter.com/fpl_gents/status/1293115187780886528?s=20
Then consider that team budget is 100M. And since my desired points are 215, I will need a ÂŁ/point value of 0.465 per player. The calculation is:

ÂŁ/Target = (Team Budget)/(Target Score)
In my case: 100 / 215 = 0.465
Taking Salah as an example, and going back to the ÂŁ/Point formula, his value is 0.421.
This is a lower number than 0.465, so Salah is actually good value for his money. It’s okay if some players in the squad have a worse value than 0.465, as long as the total amount adds up right
The next thing to look at is how many points out of the total target of 215 that one player can contribute. The formula for this is to take the projected points of a player and divide it by our target. For Salah this number is still 28.50, and our target is 215.
PP/Target = (Projected Points)/(Target Score)
28.5/215 = 0.133.
Which is the same as 13.3%.

This means that if Salah hits his projection then he can contribute to 13.3% of my target score of 215. And since he costs ÂŁ12.0, it means he can do this for only 12% of my budget.
What’s coming next is my favorite piece of this puzzle, because if you take this PP/Target value and subtract his cost from it, then we get a number that lets us know how good of a value he is in terms of our own target!
Taking his PP/Target (or % of Target) score and subtracting his price gives us his “Target Value”, and the higher the number, the better it is for us:
13.3 - 12 = 1.3%
Salah’s Target Value is 1.3%
Hope this helps when planning your GW1 squad! Calling on some of my favorite accounts and looking forward to hear your thoughts.
