1/10Recently there has been a debate on cricketers vs non cricketers. Quite a useless one. Cricket broadcasting has a handful of facets needing to be redressed:

First we need to differentiate b/w good TV & bad TV
Screen manners
Conventional & unconventional style of programming
2/10 To understand difference between a presenter, anchor, host & a moderator. An analyst can be a host & Vice versa.
Consumer requirements
Types of audience
Nature of content
It’s a misnomer a cricketer who has played internationally can best analyse or describe the game.
3/10 mode of broadcasting encompasses a. Description b. Hosting c. Technical Analysis d. Statistical Analysis e. Historical perspective f. Forecasting g. Collective wisdom.
4/10 Technical analysis include Technical aspects (identification & rectification, Relevance to brand of cricket, Situational Analysis, Body types & Nutritional demands, Conditions (types of ground, soil etc.) Phenomenal modules, Biomechanics & Psychological impacts
5/10 playing international cricket doesn’t mean basics of cricketing techniques change. Anyone who has observed cricket or have played it shall know the basics. Intricacies a club/FC or an international cricketer may well know or may not be aware of.
6/10 a batsman if gets issues with balance, alignment or range may well not know the deficiencies so he does all that still he is an international player. A bowler may know details about bowling but may not know the dynamics of strides, run up loading, landing pivot & release.
7/10 It’s not about encroachment in anyone’s space. Everyone has a right to logically contribute regardless of the backgrounds. There is no room for any such disparities or debates. Lastly gender is irrelevant. To me misogynistic thinking is as bad as racism. Let’s play our roles
8/10 There have been international cricketers who are or were top commentators & there have been non cricketing top commentators. Mode of commentary has changed however it still requires clarity of speech, linguistics, language control & delivery.
9/10 we all have deficiencies, perfection is an illusion. What’s required is to provide best rounded content for the viewers. It’s all about delivery. Remember, cricketers or non cricketers, we must provide neutral analysis, not agenda driven.
10/10 a top show must be well presented, well directed, based on analysis & neutrality, relevant, adherence to screen mannerism & protocols, done for the viewers, & broadcasting requirements. You try adhering to SoPs & improve content, ratings are genuinely attracted.
