I’ve been thinking a lot about electric cars and the push toward #netzero. There are some really important players being left out of the discussion. Namely motorsport, classic cars, and concours events.
Do these things just die? I don’t think so. While our roads will be made up of alternative fuel vehicles, there’s still a small place for ICE car events.
That being said. I am all for a push toward more electric motorsport such as @ExtremeELive, @electricGT and @FIAFormulaE. But there’s a a chance some historic motorsport would stay.
And as for classic cars, there are so many companies out there retrofitting old cars with electric motors. But will purists want stock classics in circulation?
At the moment, all I see is a war between petrol heads and those who accept and push for the need for net-zero emissions. I think this discussion needs to be wider rather than blindly fighting against the opposition without discussion.
