/ I'll give you an example of what I'm talking about. This isn't a pity thing - this is just the weirdness of social media. NOBODY - like NOBODY bought my second book. I have a quarter million followers. Many who wanna see what I write here everyday but they didn't buy the book.
/ I dunno why. It was promoted heavily and nationally with real publicity, tv appearances. this was 2016. I'm not worried about it. But the point is - I had a great idea for a third book. Spent 4 months on a proposal - but every pub house said "We can't based sales of second
/ book" - which I get. It's just business. The book proposal was a total Hail Mary pass on my part - and truthfully? I'm sort of glad that particular book didn't happen as it wasn't meant to be for a few reasons I see now. But the point is- MYSELF and OTHER ARTISTS on here
/ interact with "fans" for free all day - people who tell us they love us but IN REAL LIFE - the life you can't see we are taking disappointing calls that our work has not sold despite us being given the deal in the first place due to our huge online presence.
/ I am fine financially. This is not a sad thing. I don't care about the book. This is truly me explaining the BIZARRO WORLD of how Twitter is not the real world. Followers aren't fans. And we are all wasting our time. Thank you xo.
/ Also please don't start a string of "I bought it!" I'm telling you a really interesting insider story about social media vs real consumers. The people who follow you daily to see what you write are oddly not the people EN MASSE who will ever pay for the writing.
/ this is supposed to be an interesting thread about followers versus fans. I assume no one will understand it and this thread will be people giving me career suggestions or trying to console me and so I'm going into a seclusion tank for 92 hours.
/ You guys I'm BEGGING you stop with the pep talks. This story is FOUR YEARS OLD. I am telling it now because I thought it's RIDINKULOUSLY clear the larger point I'm making. Oh God. I forgot to get in the seclusion tank and am reading comments that are infuriating me.
/ I'm not even the same person I was when I wrote the second book. I dont even like it that much anymore. I'm just telling a story about HOW BUYING SHIT WORKS oh #lol
