Me I'm always amazed that America is much wealthier than France by every standard economic index and yet no universal healthcare, no high speed rail, the mail doesn't arrive, elections are always a shot in the dark and it took an unchecked pandemic to stop regular gun massacres.

Not even getting into the 5-weeks mandatory paid vacations, universal pension system, almost free college, excellent public transportation, at-will employment is essentially illegal, roundabouts, and sometimes they even give you the name of the cow when they serve you a steak.

What's the point of all that wealth if it doesn't make life better for all?

I'm asking because somebody told me "we don't want to be an irrelevant country like France" ok sure but
