Debunking stupid no-arguments against piracy thread.
The point of internet is to make all kind of information available to people.around the world, the point is to surpass barriers of time and space. Doing otherwise denies progress and you're using internet wrong.
Imagine a world without the greatest symphonies by the classical composers. Art has the purpose of go through time to captivate the man for generations, embellishes life and reminds us of better times. Same could go for a recording of 1995's super bowl, why not.
In the old Sparta (as it should now) little thefts were permitted such as like fruit and small animals as a test of wits and cunning. Of course, if they were discovered the punishment would be terrible. Piracy is not theft as it doesn't remove the original, it duplicates it.
The price of a subscription is not much, but the same quantity for months will soon ammount to be a large sum. That sum of money will not in any way make up for the ammount of shows you watched even if you spend most of the day watching them.
You do not need to watch ads as you were not in the market of the original broadcast. Even if you argue that it's ads which pay the production of shows, in posterity it does not matter anymore since the sponsors already pay for it.
There's a lot less intermediaries in buying merch than paying for a suscription so you are already doing your part by buying official merch. Be glad that you can do it and enjoy the show.
It is a matter of integrity to not alter the original media but for these kind of people everything is a political act and that notions clouds their judgement to the point of disrespecting the author and the audience by injecting their unsolicited points of view.
And in the end, since these dishonest people is the one you're supporting with a suscription then the correct thing to do is to not use their service and appreciating the show your way: buying merch, talking about it, drawing fanart, tweeting, marrying your waifu or whatever.
You can do whatever you want. The internet is to make people free, not prisoners.
