I’ve heard this excuse from animation and games studios many times (never at @LeagueofGeeks ofc)

If you want a diverse crew you don’t wait for ppl to come along and make it diverse for you - You need to do the work to make your studio welcoming & actively seek out talent. https://twitter.com/Rashidajourno/status/1295105884536754176
How do u make a welcoming environment? Here’s some tips for free because I’m sick of hearing this excuse:
1.) have actual policies that support people from all kinds of walks of life
2.) have underrepresented ppl in leadership roles, or training to be in ones
3.) offer PAID traineeships to underrepresented folks - hell state funding bodies would probs be happy to help u out here
4.) PAY PPL FAIRLY & EQUALLY. Srsly. Have a system if you don’t already.
5.) participate in community & school events. Be generous with your advice to diverse emerging talent. Set aside time for this.
6.) have a hiring process that minimizes bias - there are SO many ways to do this. Happy to talk to you about it if you are struggling.
7.) stop blaming schools for not producing the talent you are after (cos it’s needless blame shifting - many v talents & successful ppl didn’t go to uni, and many student cohorts ARE diverse) and go look for the people you need OUTSIDE your inner circles.
8.) above all, listen & reflect 🙌✨ and good luck! Hiring is hard but if you put in the work to find diverse talent your studios and projects will flourish!! 🌻🌻🌻🌻❤️
