My trading journey started when I was almost close to graduating from USC School of Pharmacy. Working as a pharmacy intern under several pharmacists who were actively involved in investments, I started doing small trades in tech sector like AAPL NFLX etc.
Without any prior experience in investments and especially how options work, I had a good share of my failures at the beginning. Secondly, I started as a small time investor right around 2007/2008 financial meltdown. While people were selling I was buying on a small scale.
My initial investments got wiped away in 2008 because it was the wrong timing on my end entering into an Arena without proper knowledge about equities, global issues and importance of domestic financial crisis.
With all money gone, my next mistake was drawing cash from credit cars and re-invested in equities. Another blunder was ready to unfold as I lost more money and this time it was not my money but credit card debts.
To pay off my debt, I had to work 2 jobs and investments was a distant dream around 2009/2010. My family life was certainly impacted by this but definitely wasn’t the start I was looking forward to.
Took some time off from Investments and decided to do a proper homework this time before indulging myself into Investments.
2 lessons: 1) Never use credit cards to invest and don’t blindly invest without learning about macro/micro environment, global news etc before investing.
Decided to invest in Biotechs more this time because of my drug expertise and knowledge. Got a good start though lost money and profits indulging in Binary events. Another setback but came out of it quickly with good option tradings in tech sector.
Over time My failures taught me to be more selective in picking biotechs, avoid binaries and diversification in tech sector. Years of struggles and failures turned me into a very good investor and here I’m sharing my past experiences with my followers. Do your DD always.
