After some of the early IRL Qanon actions in 2018 (guy who occupied the Hoover Dam & the Cemex debacle) I was interested in how “online conspiracy” seemed to be morphing into Cult 2.0, and what might reverse it. So I spoke with a psychologist about the appeal, and interventions.
Experts I spoke with (incl @holden) pointed out the parallels to other forms of radicalization. We discussed whether nudges like Redirect might be useful. I don’t think they were ever tried.
